Spyres rise peaks with their debut TRNSMT appearance

Spyres described TRNSMT as “a dream come true” as they made their first appearance at the Glasgow festival.

Playing The River stage on Saturday the young band from East Kilbride welcomed a massive crowd to their set.

Having been booked for the festival away back in 2019, they were more than ready for this performance.

Singer and guitarist Emily Downie described their set as “surreal”.

She told Lanarkshire Live: “We have been coming to TRNSMT since we were 14 so to be booked for this festival is surreal.

“And now that the day is finally here it is just amazing to think about playing that stage and seeing everyone having such a great time.”

Spyres have had a busy summer of festivals and have played all over the UK.

However, they said that TRNSMT was a dream come true and they welcomed the Scottish crowd with enthusiasm.

Kiera McGuire, guitars and vocals, said: “We didn’t know what the crowd would be like but it was absolutely packed.

“We played Neighbourhood last weekend and there was a good crowd there, but Glasgow is the hometown show and it was mental.

"There were people there who were singing along to every song. There were others moshing and jumping around to songs we hadn't even put out yet. That was really cool."

Next up for Spyres is two headline shows in Glasgow and Edinburgh in December, with tickets available on pre-sale at 10 am on Wednesday.
