Spy Kids star Alexa PenaVega’s son, 2, loses fingertip in 'traumatic' accident at home

Alexa PenaVega’s two-year-old son has lost of the top of his finer in a distressing accident.

The Spy Kids actress, 33, took to social media to tell her followers that her toddler Kingston is recovering after the ‘traumatic’ accident took place in their home.

The distressed mum explained that while she getting her son ready for bed, she accidentally shut the door on his hand.

Alexa explained that it was the most ‘traumatic’ thing her family has ever been through.

Taking to her Instagram stories, the actress penned: “Friday night was rough. While getting the kids ready for bed, I shut Kingston’s fingers in the hinge of the bathroom door.

“His first finger is bruised and a little bloody, but his middle finger took the brunt of it and was severed from the first knuckle near the tip,” she continued.

“It was the most traumatic thing we’ve had go through as a family.”

The actress — who also shares son Ocean, 4, and daughter Rio, 5 months, with husband Carlos — said that she felt immense ‘mom guilt’ following her son’s injury.

“The mom guilt and shame were really hard to get through. But thank God for the sweet little bruiser Kingston is,” the mum-of-three explained.

Alexa said Kingston handled his injury ‘like a champ’.

“It took a minute for all of us to process what happened. If anything, it made us all love each other even more and humbled us completely,” she wrote.

“Thankfully, Kingston is already doing flips like nothing happened. Gosh, I love my babies.”

Following her initial revelation, Alexa took to social media a few days later to explain that doctors were unable to reattach her son’s finger.

“They were not able to reattach the piece of his finger that had come off. Poor baby. But the other nine are so cute. He’ll be more than fine,” she added.

Alexa and her husband Carlos are proud parents to their three gorgeous children.

The lovebirds tied the knot in January 2014, just five months after getting engaged.
