Spurs vs Liverpool team confirmed: Japhet Tanganga starts with Dier and Vertonghen on bench

Jose Mourinho has shaken up his Tottenham Hotspur team to face Liverpool in the Premier League with a league debut for Japhet Tanganga.

After a poor run of results over the festive period, Spurs face the toughest possible test in Jurgen Klopp's runaway leaders coming to town.

Mourinho is without the injured Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko, Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies and Tanguy Ndombele for the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Danny Rose has returned to training with the squad is called straight back in against Klopp's men by Mourinho.

The biggest surprise is the inclusion of 20-year-old Tanganga, making his debut in the back line in a Premier League match.

Mourinho has retained faith in using a back three but with Rose in the left wing-back role.

In the midfield, Christian Eriksen and Harry Winks pair up with Dele Alli and Lucas Moura playing behind Son Heung-min.

Here is the confirmed Spurs team: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Alderweireld, Rose, Eriksen, Winks, Dele, Moura, Son. Subs: Vorm, Vertonghen, Sessegnon, Dier, Skipp, Lamela, Lo Celso.
