Spurs' true match-winner vs Ajax identified by Toby Alderweireld - and it's not Lucas Moura

Tottenham Hotspur managed the unthinkable on Wednesday night as they came back from 3-0 down on aggregate to progress through to the final of the Champions League thanks to a second-half hat-trick from Lucas Moura.

But despite the outstanding strikes from the 26-year-old, teammate Toby Alderweireld insists that there was a hidden hero behind Spurs' comeback win as they won the tie on the away goals rule.

Ajax led 1-0 from the first leg and took a 3-0 lead on aggregate after goals from Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech, only for Spurs to level on the night following a quickfire brace from Moura.

Spurs looked out of it late on but somehow scored the equalising goal on aggregate to win on away goals when Moura bagged his hat-trick.

What Gary Lineker said about Spurs and Liverpool after Tottenham's 'remarkable' win against Ajax

Moura earned praise aplenty post-match from pundits, fans and his team-mates, but Alderweireld also hailed Fernando Llorente.

The striker was brought on at half-time for Victor Wanyama and Alderweireld says the 34-year-old made a huge difference.

"I think it was mentally very hard. You concede two goals, you have to score three. It showed the team mentality," he said.

"Difficult season for us but we performed the second half like that, it's unbelievable. We put our heart on the pitch. After the first leg everyone was saying Ajax. Ajax have a great team but we showed today we want it more. More and more. I am so proud of this team.

"Mentally it was difficult (conceding two goals) but from that moment, we started playing better. We started to play football. I think Fernando (Llorente) came in and changed the game for us."
