Spurs team confirmed vs Middlesbrough: Lamela, Lo Celso, Tanganga and Sessegnon start

Jose Mourinho has shaken up his Tottenham Hotspur team to face Middlesbrough in their FA Cup replay.

The Spurs boss said before the match that the only player he could afford to rest from the squad was Toby Alderweireld, due to the central defensive options he has.

Mourinho revealed on Monday that Christian Eriksen would start and Jan Vertonghen would come back into the team. He also said that Japhet Tanganga would "probably play" after his impressive Premier League debut in the defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

All three do start with further fresh legs in Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon coming in to the team.

Young left-back Dennis Cirkin makes his first appearance on the bench.

The Tottenham head coach faces the delicate balance of needing to win the game but also being wary of a tough trip to Watford on Saturday to face Nigel Pearson's side.

Incoming loan signing Gedson Fernandes has not yet been announced but would have not have been eligible to play in the fixture as he was not registered for the first game.

Here's how Spurs line up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium:

Gazzaniga, Tanganga, Sanchez, Vertonghen (C), Sessegnon, Dier, Winks, Lo Celso, Eriksen, Lamela, Lucas. Subs: Vorm, Foyth, Cirkin, Aurier, Skipp, Dele, Son.
