Spurs star Tanguy Ndombele set to miss north London derby against Arsenal with thigh injury

Tanguy Ndombele has been left out of France's latest squad for their European Championship qualifiers next week, indicating that he will miss this weekend's north London derby with his injury.

The 22-year-old, Spurs' club record £63m signing from Lyon this summer, picked up a thigh problem last week in training and missed the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.

There was hope that it was a minor injury and he might have recovered in time for the match against Arsenal this Sunday but Ndombele has not been training with the group this week and now looks set to return after the international break.

He was also at a fans' event at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday where he looked to be limping around.

Ndombele has made a big impression at Spurs since arriving this summer, with a goal and an assist in his first two games and he will be a big miss for the north London derby.

Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham 'didn't play well' in Newcastle defeat

His Tottenham Hotspur team-mates Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko have been named in the France squad for the matches against Albania and Andorra on September 7 and 10 respectively at the Stade de France.
