Spurs star Kyle Walker-Peters on toughest test of his career against Raheem Sterling & Man City

Spurs defender Kyle Walker-Peters says the clash against Premier League champions Manchester City was the toughest of his career to date.

Mauricio Pochettino's side twice came from a goal down to earn a draw at the Etihad Stadium, with Walker-Peters set a difficult task in marking one of the league's top performers in Raheem Sterling.

Sterling opened the scoring after ghosting in at the back post to head in a Kevin De Bruyne cross before Erik Lamela got the equaliser shortly after from long range.

And while Sergio Aguero got the champions back in front in the first half, Lucas Moura came off the bench after the break to level the scores once again, before a Gabriel Jesus goal was ruled out by VAR in stoppage time.

"Honestly, I'd put that down as the hardest game I've ever played. I've never been under relentless pressure like that… never," Walker-Peters told the club's official website.

Walker-Peters has made just a handful of league starts for Spurs, but team-mate Harry Winks says he is adapting well to the limelight after last-year's first-choice right-back Kieran Trippier left for Atletico Madrid this summer.

"I'm really proud of Kyle," Winks stated. "It's a big season for him this year, he's had a big couple of games already in the Premier League this season and now, no bigger test than playing Manchester City away and being up against Sterling, but he handled it exceptionally well.

"I thought he was fantastic on Saturday and playing in the Under-18s with him, going all this way and continuing the journey in the first team, it's been even more special to see him doing so well, so I'm really pleased for him.

"Physically he’s still working hard but with his whole defensive reading of the game and making big, important tackles and blocks, he’s been excellent and really worked hard on everything.

"On the ball he has an amazing quality and he’s shown that in every game he’s played, so to go away to City and to perform as he did, it’s a big statement from him."
