Spurs player ratings vs Wolves: Gazzaniga superb as Vertonghen strikes late in 2-1 win

Tottenham Hotspur are now just three points off the Champions League places following a last-gasp win over Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites looked liked they were heading for a draw when Adama Traore cancelled out Lucas Moura's early goal, but an injury time strike from Jan Vertonghen won it right at the end.

Here's how we rated the Spurs players against Wolves.

Paulo Gazzaniga

Got down low to hold Traore's shot before the quarter hour mark and early in the second half did well to save Jiminez's strike and push it away from two oncoming Wolves attackers. Couldn't do anything about Traore's rocket of a shot to level the game but made a great save to deny Saiss in the 83rd minute. More than played his part. 8

Jan Vertonghen

Had his hands full with the speedy Traore. The one time he stood off him the Wolves man smashed home the leveller. Popped at the other end to head home Eriksen's corner to win the game for Spurs in dramatic circumstances though. 8

Toby Alderweireld

Added his name to the book for a foul on Traore, taking one for the team. Defended well in the driving rain. 8

Davinson Sanchez

Very shaky at times. Had to stop a Jota shot with a diving lunge after his own poor control led to it. Made plenty of interceptions but gave the ball away with too many basic passes. 6

Serge Aurier

A mixture of the sublime and ridiculous at times with some terrific last gasp interceptions and headers but also plenty of sloppy play. 7

Eric Dier

Should have doubled Spurs' lead in the 36th minute, playing a one-two with Alli only to smash his shot from eight yards out against the post. Joined the yellow card for a foul on Traore club with the most cynical of the lot. 7

Moussa Sissoko

Plenty of lung-busting runs up the pitch to try to ease the pressure on Spurs. 7

Lucas Moura

Couldn't quite get away an early chance but made no mistake on seven minutes with a rocket of a rising shot into the roof of the Wolves net. Set up Alli with a half-chance in the second half after a driving run down the right. Much better from the Brazilian with battling and chances created for others. 8

Dele Alli

Made a strong burst into the box 11 minutes in but was denied by the keeper. Set up Dier for what should have been Spurs' second before the break and curled wide an effort of his own before the hour mark. Worked hard throughout. 7

Son Heung-min

It was his shot that was pushed out and cleared to Lucas who scored the opener. Struggled to make an impact on the whole though. 5

Harry Kane

Had a penalty claim turned down by the referee and VAR in the first half for what seemed like obstruction in the Wolves box. Also joined the booked for fouling Traore club. Struggled for opportunities but battled away in a thankless role up front. 5

Subs

Christian Eriksen

Not the change many wanted but it made the difference with his corner headed home by Vertonghen. 6

Harry Winks

Came on late on to steady the midfield. N/A

Juan Foyth

Same as Winks, came on to shore the defence up. N/A
