Spurs' opponents Red Star Belgrade charged by UEFA with 5 offences in Champions League

One of Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League opponents this season - Red Star Belgrade - have been charged with five offences by UEFA.

Spurs will play the Serbian side Crvena zvezda, known in English as Red Star Belgrade, at home on October 22 and then they travel to take them on in Serbia on November 6.

By that point their opponents could well have been charged by UEFA for their fans' behaviour in the Champions League play-off second-leg against BSC Young Boys, played on Tuesday in Serbia.

The charges against the Serbian side are for the setting off of fireworks, throwing of objects, crowd disturbances, improper conduct of the team and stairways blocked.

The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on September 19 and if found guilty the Serbian club will be punished with fines.

The Red Star fans drew criticism this week after supporters drove a tank to the Rajko Mitic Stadium before the game and parked it outside the north stand which is reserved for the club's ultras, known as Delije.

After their team qualified for the group stages, where they will face Spurs, Bayern Munich and Olympiacos, the fans celebrated into the night on the tank with flares.

One thing is for sure, Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham players and the north London club's fans are likely to be entering a hostile atmosphere at the stadium in November.
