Spurs news: Trio to face fitness tests, Eriksen's unlikely praise, lineup for Sheffield United

Can Tottenham kickstart their Premier League campaign this weekend before the international break?

Spurs picked up a much-needed win in the CHampions League on Wednesday, thumping Red Star Belgrade 4-0 in Serbia, following their 5-0 win against them at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But their Premier League form remains patchy and they face a tricky clash with surprise package Sheffield United this weekend.

Has Mauricio Pochettino found his winning formula in terms of lineup and formation though?

Here we round-up the biggest stories from around Tottenham in the last 24 hours.

Three to be assessed

Tottenham take on Sheffield United in the Premier League this weekend, buoyed by a big win over Red Star Belgrade in the CHampions League.

But as is often the case with midweek games, Mauricio Pochettino likes to shuffle his pack and the match against the Blades could see a different team to the one that played in Serbia.

And Pochettino has admitted that he will be assesing the fitness of three players before naming his squad for the game against Sheffield United on Saturday because certain players do not have as much match fitness as others.

Read who Pochettino will be assessing ahead of the game here.

Eriksen's unlikely praise

Ask most Tottenham fans about Christian Eriksen this season and they will not be likely to give you a glowing response.

The Dane has been below par this campaign, having failed to secure a move away from the club in the summer.

It looked as though he would move on after six years at Spurs, with Real Madrid and Manchester United reportedly interested.

But he stayed in N17, running his contract down, with a move now likely next summer.

And with his future up in the air, he has not been at his best for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

However, suggestions that he has downed tools have been refuted by a former Totenham man.

Hugo Lloris update

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, injured during the 3-0 defeat to Brighton, has undergone surgery.

And he has undergone surgery on that injury now.

Son sends message to Andre Gomes

Son Heung-min got back on the horse in the perfect way on Wednesday night.

After the trauma of making the challenge that ended with Andre Gomes fracturing his ankle on Sunday, the Spurs man nothced two goals as Tottenham beat Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

And Son revealed that he had been in contact with Gomes following the horrific incident at Goodison Park last weekend.

Here's what he said to the Everton man.

Lineup vs Sheffield United

Mauricio Pochettino has some decision to make ahead of the weekend.

Does he pick the same team, a winning team, against Sheffield United?

Or does he shuffle the pack, as he often likes to do?

The fans will have their opinions and we asked our writers to name the team they would pick.

Here's what they came up with.
