Spurs news: Son talks suspension, Ajax player's claim and latest team and injury news

Tottenham received another boost on Wednesday in their aim of retaining Champions League football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for next season.

Arsenal's 3-1 loss away at Wolves kept the points gap between the North London rivals to four points, with three games left to play.

Spurs have Christien Eriksen's 88th minute shot against Brighton to thank for them picking up a midweek three points. The Seagulls had frustrated the Lilltwhites for the large majority of the match before the Dane finally found a way past goalkeeper Mat Ryan.

Of the four clubs fighting for Champions League football, Tottenham are in the driving seat.

Mauricio Pochettino's men are next in action on Saturday as they look to maintain their 100 per cent record at their new home when West Ham visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son opens up on suspension

Much to the disappointment of Spurs fans, there will be one player who will won't to be able to play in the first let of Tottenham's Champions League semi-final.

Son Heung-min picked up his third caution of the tournament during the thrilling quarter final win against Manchester City earlier in the month, meaning that he must now serve a one match suspension.

The South Korean star has now been talking about his own disappointment in having to sit out the crucial game against Ajax.

"Of course I try to be positive but missing this semi-final makes me so sad, so disappointed," he said after the Premier League win against Brighton

""I'm a very positive guy, I'm very comfortable with the lads so I'll probably be more nervous watching in the stands than when I play. But I trust my team, I trust my players, I trust this stadium so I'm not worried about it."

Ajax's Van De Beek claims Tottenham are favourites

It may have already been mentioned, but Tottenham are in Champions League semi-final action after the next round of Premier League games.

Spurs come up against Ajax, who have surprised everyone in the competition by knocking out both Spanish giants Real Madrid and Italian side Juventus in the last two stages. Now their players are beginning to look ahead to the Tottenham clash.

"Tottenham is one of the top teams in the Premier League and they are still my favourite," Ajax midfielder Donny Van De Beek.

"That does not mean that we cannot beat them. We will have to reach a high level to beat Tottenham. It will depend on our own form. let's hope it is top."

The semi final will have a long way to go to beat Tottenham's last Champions League outing, where a 4-4 aggregate score with Manchester City saw them go through thanks to the away goal rule.

Latest injury and team news

Before the Champions League match against Ajax, Spurs do have a Premier League game against West Ham United to focus on. Spurs will be looking to maintain their 100 per cent winning record at their new home.
