Spurs news: Sessegnon setback, Pochettino's lift after Champions League agony, Eriksen latest

Tottenham are gearing up for the next leg of their pre-season journey in Germany.

Spurs will take on Real Madrid in the Audi Cup on Tuesday, before a follow-up game on Wednesday.

It has been a demanding summer so far for Mauricio Pochettino and his men as they gear up for the new Premier League season, which gets under way in less than two weeks.

Pochettino had plenty to think about over the summer, and has plenty of plans for Spurs to put into place, some of which have already been done.

Here are the latest Tottenham stories from the past 24 hours.

Pochettino lift

It was a difficult summer for everyone connected with Tottenham.

Another fine season finished on a low point - losing the Champions League final to Liverpool.

The joy of reaching the final, with dramatic wins over Manchester City and Ajax, came crumbling down in Madrid, with a below-par contest going in the Reds' favour.

It hit manager Mauricio Pochettino hard.

It has been a struggle for the Argentinian to lift himself again, and after many people and trying many things to get himself back into focus, there was one, rather surprising thing, that got him back in the mood for football again.

He reveals all here.

Sessegnon setback

Tottenham remain in contention to sign teenager Ryan Sessegnon this summer.

The Fulham youngster has been on Tottenham's radar for more than a year, and having just had a taste of the Premier League, the left-sided star will be keen for more.

Reports suggest that he is keen on a move to Spurs, and a deal had been expected to be done before the transfer window closed in just under two weeks' time.

However, that may not be the case anymore.

Here's why.

Eriksen transfer

Christian Eriksen remains a Tottenham player.

At least for the time being.

It seems like a long time ago now that the Dane said that it might be time for a "new challenge" after six years with Spurs.

A number of clubs have shown an interest, namely Real Madrid, but it is understood that Zinedine Zidane would prefer to tie up a move for Manchester United's Paul Pogba instead.

That could leave Eriksen in limbo, with Spurs fans keen to see him sign a new contract.

Another club have now shown an interest in the playmaker though.

All the latest on a potential transfer is right here.

Fans want Bale deal

Gareth Bale's future...bored of it yet?

Real Madrid, or more pertinently Zinedine Zidane, want shot of him.

Tottenham, as always, were mooted as a possible destination this summer, despite the crazy wage demands, but a move to China looked on the cards.

However, the plug has been pulled on that one and Bale could be set to stay in the Spanish capital.

Here's what the Tottenham fans want though.
