Spurs news: Mourinho handed Brighton boost, Koulibaly transfer, Son failure, supporter banned

The festive fixture schedule is upon us.

Tottenham take on Graham Potter's Brighton on Boxing Day, hoping to put right their defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho will have to make at least one change due to Son's red card against the Blues, but will he look to make any other tweaks to his starting lineup?

Looking at that and all the other big stories from around N17 in the last 24 hours is our round-up below.

Tottenham: A look back at 2019

Son failure

Tottenham tried to appeal the decision to send Son Heung-min off against Chelsea on Sunday.

The South Korean kicked out at Antonio Rudiger at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium having failed to win a foul from the German defender.

It was a petulant move from the Spurs forward and he was shown a straight red card for his actions.

Spurs appealing the decision was a strange move and that appeal has failed.

Injury boost

Tottenham will take on Brighton in the first Boxing Day clash.

Amazon Prime will show the match at lunchtime, which will hand Spurs an opportunity to close the gap on the top four ahead of the other kick-offs.

Supporter banned

There was controversy off the pitch during the game between Tottenham and Chelsea on Sunday.

Antonio Rudiger complained to referee Anthony Taylor that he suffered racist abuse while playing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Not only that, but Blues keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga had an object thrown at him during the second half too.

Spurs have banned a supporter for his actions.

Koulibaly transfer

Will Tottenham be busy in the January transfer window?

It seems unlikely with Jose Mourinho admitting he was happy with the squad he has at his disposal.

However, Spurs have been linked with a number of players during the winter window.

One of those is Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who will cost a fortune.

Here's the latest on a move for him.
