Spurs news: How Ndombele deal was done, Champions League squad, Lo Celso setback, Llorente gone

Tottenham have new signings

That sounds nice doesn't it after back-to-back barren transfer windows.

Tanguy Ndombele is the new club-record signing, joining from Lyon for £63million on Tuesday.

Attention now turns to who else Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy could bring in.

Here we round up the big stories from around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the last 24 hours.

How Spurs won the Ndombele race

Tanguy Ndombele is Tottenham's new club-record signing.

The France international midfielder had been linked with a move to Spurs for much of the summer transfer window, and he completed his move to N17 on Tuesday afternoon.

Ndombele joins Spurs for a fee of £54million, with £9million in add-ons potentially due to Lyon in the future.

But Spurs had competition for his signature, namely from the likes of Manchester United and Juventus.

So how did they get their man ahead of those two teams?

Champions League squad

Mauricio Pochettino has had to contend with the problem of selecting a squad for the Champions League over the past couple of seasons.

Rules stipulate that teams can only have 17 non-locally trained players in their 25-man squad and this has proved quite troublesome for the club given the number of foreign players in their ranks.

Juan Foyth, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Vincent Janssen have been left out of the squad in the past, with Pochettino particularly believed to be devastated in having to leave the young Argentine out his squad before he was brought in for Dembele at the start of the year.

So what does Tanguy Ndombele's transfer mean for the 2019/20 tournament?

We take a look.

Fernando Llorente hint

Fernando Llorente played a big part towards the end of the 2018/19 season for Tottenham.

But he may not be at the club next season.

The Spaniard's contract with the Lilywhites has run out, but there has been no official confirmation that he has left.

There has been another form of confirmation that he has gone, however.

Confused? We explain all here.

Lo Celso alternatives

Spurs may have signed two new players already this week, but attention already turns to who could be next.

Giovani Lo Celso has been the most heavily linked, but reports of a move to N17 have gone quiet in recent weeks.

And reports have suggested that a potential transfer is on hold, with Spurs and Real Betis unable to come to an agreement over a fee.

So if Spurs do want to bring in another midfielder, who could they target instead of Lo Celso?

We take a look at the options.
