Spurs news: Foyth injury blow, van Dijk's Champions League final revelation, the Dele dilemma

The new Premier League season is almost upon us.

But Tottenham fans will be hoping there is still business to be done in the transfer market.

Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke remain the only two new signings, with Clarke heading back to Leeds United on loan for the season.

What other business will be done this summer, and how will Mauricio Pochettino start the new season?

Here we round up the biggest stories from around Spurs in the last 24 hours.

Foyth blow

Spurs have suffered a setback on the eve of the start of the Premier League season.

Juan Foyth was going to miss the first two league games due to suspension, but an injury is going to keep him out even longer than that now.

With Kieran Trippier leaving the club and Serge Aurier working his way back from injury, Foyth was expected to battle it out with Kyle Walker-Peters for the right-back berth.

But Mauricio Pochettino's early season plans have taken a turn for the worse.

Find out all about Foyth's injury here.

Vertonghen contract update

Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld will both be out of contract next summer.

So will either of them still be in N17?

There has been plenty of speculation over the future of Alderweireld, but Vertonghen has always maintained that he is happy at Spurs.

However, he has refused to comment on whether or not he will put pen to paper on a new deal to commit his future to the north Londoners.

Read what he had to say ahead of the new Premier League season here.

Van Dijk revelation

The Champions League final was nothing to write home about.

Liverpool beat Spurs 2-0 thanks to an early penalty and a late goal in what turned out to be a bit of a damp squib between two English sides.

The Reds, who had run Manchester City so close to the Premier League, and a usually free-flowing Spurs failed to conjure up much magic on the night in Madrid.

And Virgil van Dijk revealed Liverpool's game plan and why Tottenham forced them into it.

Read all about that here.

Dele dilemma

Dele Alli will be a big miss on the opening day of the season.

The midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season and is out of the first game against Aston Villa on Saturday.

But what does that mean for Mauricio Pochettino and his team? How will he lineup against the newly-promoted side?

We take a look at the options available to him.

Spurs continue to be linked with the likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon this summer.

Here's the latest on Sessegnon.
