Spurs news: Christian Eriksen shocker, contract update, Man City barb, loan star's return

Another international break? Snore.

It has come at a good time for Tottenham though, to break up their poor start to the 2019/20 season.

Eight games into the Premier League and Spurs are ninth, with just three wins.

It has been a tough time for Mauricio Pochettino and his backroom team and they will be looking to put things right and their problems behind them when they return next weekend.

But while we may be in the middle of a two-week break, there is plenty to talk about around Spurs.

Here we round up the biggest stories from the past 24 hours.

Man City dig

Tottenham's run to the Champions League final seems like a long time ago now.

This season has not exactly lived up to those high expectations, with Mauricio Pochettino's side struggling.

But last year provided the supporters with some great memories - great memories a certain Manchester City chief is only too keen to pour cold water on.

Omar Berrada aimed a thinly-veiled dig at Tottenham and the Champions League as a whole in an interview with Spanish publication SPort.

Player ratings

We're once again stuck in the middle of one of the worst periods of the season.

The international break is never a period that Premier League fans look forward to.

And we're right in the middle of our second one of the season.

But after the first eight games we can take stock and see where our teams stand.

It has not been a good start for most of the Tottenham players. But how would we rate their season so far?

Contract details

The situation with Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen has been well-publicised.

But what about the rest of the squad?

The former Ajax trio are all in the final year of their current deals with Spurs, with all three likely to leave at the end of the season.

But are any other players in the same boat? And which players' contracts wun out next?

We've got all the information right here.

Loan star's return

Tottenham could have one of their loan players back at the club this week.

Although it would not be for any great length of time.

Spurs have a number of players out on loan at various different levels of football, to varying degrees of success.

Kazaiah Sterling could find himself back at Hotspur Way as a result of injury, however.

Here's the latest on his situation.
