Spurs news: Christian Eriksen's form, ending Davinson Sanchez experiment, duo out for Leicester

How will Tottenham respond to dropping two points in their opening Champions League clash?

It is the second time in three weeks that Spurs have squandered a 2-0 lead, with the goal to halve the deficit coming right before half-time.

Spurs travel to Leicester for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off, knowing they can move into second place in the Premier League table, albeit for a few hours with a win.

We look ahead to that game and look back at the Olympiacos result with our round-up of the biggest stories from around N17 in the last 24 hours.

Christian Eriksen

Much was made over the summer about Christian Eriksen's future.

The Dane stayed put at Spurs, but focus now turns to his performances on the pitch.

It looked like Spurs missed him earlier in the season when he was not picked, but his most recent performance, against Olympiacos, was not well received by the Tottenham fans.

Here's what Mauricio Pochettino had to say about his mercurial playmaker.

Players to miss Leicester

Tottenham return to Premier League action against Leicester City on Saturday.

The game at the King Power Stadium takes place at lunchtime on Saturday and offers Spurs the chance to move into second in the Premier League table, if only for a matter of hours.

Mauricio Pochettino will go to Leicester without two players.

Find out who here.

Davinson Sanchez experiment

Olympiacos was another game where Davinson Sanchez was deployed at right-back.

Serge Aurier was left at home and Kyle Walker-Peters was on the bench, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to give the centre-back another go there.

Once again, it did not work. And it is an experiment that should be canned.

That and more talking points from Olympiacos is right here.

Erik Lamela's bad moment

Tottenham let slip a 2-0 lead away at Olympiacos on Wednesday night.

Their Champions League campaign did not get off to the horrific start it did last season, when they lost 2-1 to Inter Milan, having led 1-0, but a 2-2 draw was not what they would have hopped for having led 2-0.

But it could have been so different.

Spurs laid siege to the Greek goal during the closing stages, but could not find a winner.

Although there was one Erik Lamela moment that could have yielded the winner.
