Spurs news: Big David Beckham admission, Serge Aurier message, Son shines in rout

Tottenham enjoyed a return to form on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino's men were well and truly back to their best as they romped to victory over Crystal Palace at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There has been plenty going on behind the scenes at Spurs, with Pochettino holding an hour-long meeting with the players when they returned from the international break this week.

Everything has settled down now, at least until January, with the transfer windows shut and everyone staying put.

Here we round up the biggest stories from around Tottenham in the past 24 hours.

Aurier message

Serge Aurier was outspoken during the week.

On international duty he claimed that there was "no competition" at Tottenham for the right-back berth, while also saying that he wanted to leave the club in the summer.

The Ivorian stayed put and he played his first game of the season on Saturday.

It was a good one too, not just for Spurs but for Aurier, who was at the heart of most things.

And Mauricio Pochettino had a message for the right-back afterwards.

Read all about that here.

David Beckham admission

David Beckham has a special connection with Tottenham Hotspur.

And the England legend was at the new stadium on Saturday to watch Spurs thrash Crystal Palace 4-0.

He wasn't just watching, he had time to speak to Mauricio Pochettino after the game too.

And Beckham made quite the admission.

Merson's verdict

It is never easy for an Arsenal legend to say nice things about Tottenham.

But Gunners legend Paul Merson had no worries doing just that on Saturday.

Merson was watching Spurs vs Crystal Palace for Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday.

And what he said about Mauricio Pochettino's side will be a worry for Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Match action

Spurs ran riot at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

At least they did in the first half.

Tottenham won the game by half-time, thanks to a 4-0 lead, with two goals from Son Heung-min, a Patrick van Aanholt own goal and an Erik Lamela strike.

Here's how the match panned out.

And here are Alasdair Gold's player ratings.
