Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo asked about Harry Kane situation amid Man City transfer interest

Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has remained tight-lipped on Harry Kane's situation amid Manchester City's transfer interest.

City have had a slow start to the summer transfer window but it is set to soon burst into life as they are closing in on the £100m transfer of Jack Grealish.

Despite being about to break the British transfer record to sign the Aston Villa captain, the Blues are still pushing to sign Kane in what would likely be another nine-figure transfer as they aim to replace departed icon, Sergio Aguero.

Spurs' don't want to sell their talisman, especially to a direct Premier League rival, but Kane has upped the pressure on his club this week by failing to report for pre-season training as expected on Monday.

Reports suggest the England captain won't be able to return to training until next Monday at the earliest and will almost certainly miss Spurs' Premier League opener, ironically against City, as a result.

Espirito Santo refused to be drawn to comment on the situation, however, when asked following his side's 2-2 friendly draw with Chelsea on Wednesday.

“I’m sorry but I’m not gonna talk about Harry Kane now. Let’s discuss about the game, did you watch it?” he said.

"It's not that I don't want to comment. I think all this issue surrounding Harry we should discuss internally to avoid any kind of public argument and discussion. We have to solve the problem but first between us."
