Spurs issue update on Marcus Edwards' future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Portuguese side Vitoria for the transfer of Marcus Edwards.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Dutch club Excelsior Rotterdam after a loan spell to forget at Norwich City the previous campaign.

The 20-year-old did impress during his time with the club as he scored two goals in 25 appearances, yet it wasn't enough to keep them in the Eredivisie as they were relegated.

Following his return to Spurs in the summer, there has been plenty of talk over where exactly Edwards would be playing his football with no future for him at the club under Mauricio Pochettino.

The talented youngster trained with Championship side Brentford in pre-season in hope of earning a deal at Griffin Park, but Edwards was not successful in clinching a contract with the Bees.

The player then appeared to be on the move to Serie A side Udinese as reports from Italy claimed that he was already in the country to finalise a deal.

That unfortunately never materialised and now he will head to Portugal to get his career back on track.

"We wish Marcus all the best for the future," read a tweet from Spurs' Twitter account.
