Spurs' home cooking poses another difficult test for Bulls

March 10--The Warriors' 46-game NBA-record home winning streak began after the Bulls defeated them at Oracle Arena in January 2015.

The Bulls get a chance to impact another winning streak Thursday. At 30-0, the Spurs, like the Warriors, are unbeaten at home this season. The Bulls are 11-19 on the road.

"It is (remarkable), especially to have two teams in one season," veteran Mike Dunleavy said. "That speaks to how good and talented and well-run those organizations are. San Antonio always has been a tough place to go in and get a win. Obviously with Tim Duncan being there 20 years, it's never easy. And then Golden State is a place where the crowd is into it and a tough place to win. I don't way to say I'm not surprised. But of all the teams, it seems like those teams would be great home teams."

The Bulls' United Center home mark of 44 was set from March 30, 1995, to April 4, 1996.

Back on bench: The Spurs went 1-1 while associate head coach Ettore Messina subbed for coach Gregg Popovich, who is due back Thursday after attending to what the team called a "family medical situation."

The Spurs waived former Bull Rasual Butler and officially signed Kevin Martin on Wednesday. They prevailed Tuesday in Minnesota despite playing without Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.

"Whoever is asked to step up goes out and makes a big impact on that team," coach Fred Hoiberg said. "They've been together so long. They know each other so well. They know where they're going to be. A lot of times there are no-look passes. The ball moves so well. They make simple plays and benefit from that."

Practice makes perfect? It's rare for teams to practice with two off days between games at this stage of the season. But Hoiberg called for two, although both were light. Tuesday's featured just a film session and players getting up individual shots, while Wednesday's was mostly a walk-through of Spurs' sets.
