Former Tottenham star Chris Waddle had provided a bold prediction on the club under new manager Jose Mourinho.
Mauricio Pochettino parted ways with the club earlier this week following five years in the capital.
Four successive top-four finishes have been followed up by a slow start to the Premier League campaign which has Spurs sat in 14th.
Despite making the Champions League final as well back in June, Pochettino's time ran out as chairman Daniel Levy made the 'reluctant' call to sack the Argentine.
There has been mixed reaction across the board to the major development at Spurs. Waddle, for one, is very optimistic about the club's future under Mourinho.
"Tottenham have won 24 trophies in their entire history - Mourinho has won 25 in his career. Tottenham have won one pot this century - Mourinho was regularly winning two per year," Waddle told the Racing Post.
"That’s what Spurs have got and no, he won’t win over everybody, and yes, there will be times when his side might be difficult to watch. But the fact is that they are investing in someone who is about to transform a nearly club into a winning club and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he hits the ground running.
"I have no doubt that Mourinho will be targeting the FA Cup this season, which is probably more winnable for them with Manchester City and Liverpool fighting it out for the Premier League."
