Spurs handed major injury boost that would end the Davinson Sanchez right-back experiment

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino may be in line for an injury boost after the international break, with Juan Foyth looking like making a recovery from the ankle injury he picked up in pre-season.

Spurs issued a statement at the beginning of August detailing Foyth's ankle problem, stating that he was expected to return to training in September after recovering from the lateral ligament injury.

Foyth could come back into the team at right-back, having previously deputised there, with Kyle Walker-Peters suffering a hamstring strain against Newcastle United last month.

Pochettino elected to pick Davinson Sanchez on the right of defence for the north London derby, but the centre-back looked off the pace as he struggled to deal with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Foyth attended the launch of Spurs' third kit on Tuesday evening alongside Lucas Moura, and appeared to be walking freely after suffering an ankle injury in the Audi Cup.

Upcoming fixtures for Spurs include Crystal Palace at home, followed by their first Champions League group stage game - a tricky away game against Olympiacos.

Following that, there are two more away games, with Leicester the opponents in the Premier League, and a Carabao Cup tie against Colchester United.

Foyth was not named in the Premier League squad released on Tuesday as he still remains in the Under-21 age range that can be used at any time.

The defender has been at Spurs for two years following his move from Estudiantes for a fee reported to be worth around £8million.
