Spurs fans will love what Xabi Alonso has said about Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho

Former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has described Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Morurinho as 'one of the best coaches' he has had.

The Spaniard played 151 times under the guidance of Mourinho, while the Portuguese coach was in charge of La Liga giants Real Madrid between the years of 2010 and 2013.

Mourinho took charge of Tottenham after the departure of Mauricio Pochettino. The former Chelsea and Manchester United coach has so far won all three of his games in charge of Spurs.

A 3-2 win over West Ham was followed by a 4-2 Champions League victory over Greek side Olympiacos, which was followed by a 3-2 win over Bournemouth at the weekend.

Them results have taken Tottenham from 14th place in the Premier League table to fifth, while they have also qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Alonso has named the reasons that he sees Mourinho as one of the best coaches in the game.

"He is one of the best coaches I've had," he told L'Equipe.

Peter Crouch: Mourinho is a 'breath of fresh air' for Spurs

"I would highlight his ability to read the games, his strategy and that ability he has to react to the team when the game gets difficult."

Mourinho has already shown his ruthless streak, replacing Eric Dier with Christian Eriksen before the half an hour mark in the match against Olympiacos, a game where Tottenham came back from two goals behind to win 4-2.
