Spurs fans will love what Tanguy Ndombele did to Ryan Mason in training ahead of Olympiacos game

Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for their opening match of this season's Uefa Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino's side are in Athens, where they will take on Greek Super League runners-up Olympiacos on Wednesday night.

After last season's run to the final in Madrid, which saw Spurs knock out favourites Manchester City and Ajax in a dramatic semi-final second leg, Pochettino will be hopeful of another successful campaign.

Ahead of the game, Spurs have been training at the Karaiskakis Stadium to acclimatise to the pitch.

In a video captured by football.london, coach Ryan Mason is seen with the group along with manager Pochettino.

Former Spurs midfielder Mason was appointed as academy coach in the summer, after retiring from football when sustaining a horrific head injury while playing for Hull City in 2017.

The midfielder left Spurs in 2016, but has been around the club since he finished playing.

Mason's appointment has been a universally popular one with the fans - and also with the playing staff it seems.

At the end of the training sessions, every Spurs player came over and high fived the U18s coach before they went off, even summer signing Tanguy Ndombele.

The Frenchman, who joined from Lyon in a club record £55.45million deal, could be forgiven for not recognising Mason's popularity given he has just joined the club.

But it seems the team spirit among the Spurs squad is as strong as ever as they prepare for another big season in north London.
