Spurs fans will love the two Christmas presents Daniel Levy requested from Jose Mourinho

It has been a month since Spurs chairman Daniel Levy sacked Mauricio Pochettino and replaced him with Jose Mourinho.

Spurs had been on a dreadful run of form domestically, going without an away win in the Premier League since the end of January.

Pochettino had a successful five years at Spurs, ensuring that they became top four mainstays during his time at the helm.

However, one thing that continued to elude the Tottenham manager was a piece of silverware to add to the trophy cabinet.

They came close, finishing runners up in the Champions League final in June, but that was not enough to save Pochettino's job.

And at the Spurs Christmas party, Daniel Levy revealed the two gifts he was asking Father Christmas for.

Jose Mourinho: I am 100% Tottenham

"Happy Christmas," Levy stated.

"I think in the summer we said we'd give you a fantastic party, so let's have a really enormous, great... not too much alcohol please, we've got a game in a few days...party.

"I was looking at our book that we've released called 'Destination Tottenham' today, and there was a quote in there from Danny Blanchflower who was a previous captain of Tottenham.

"He said: "Football is about glory. It is about doing things in style." And that's exactly what we do. We do things different. And our brand is all about style.

"Let's look at our 2019, look at the things we've achieved. We played at Wembley. Then we had to go through MK Dons. Then we opened a new stadium. Then we got top four. Then we arrived in Madrid for the Champions League final. Then we hosted two NFL games to fantastic acclaim around the world. We won various design awards for the training centre, the lodge and the stadium.

"But all this wouldn't be possible without you. Your dedication, hard work and commitment is really appreciated.

"And I don't know whether you realise but everyone in this room is part of history. You are making millions of people around the world happy. Not just because of obviously the football that's happening on the pitch, but the facilities that we've all created, you've all been part of, and it's really appreciated.

"So I want you all to have a fantastic Christmas, but...

"We all want Christmas presents. So I asked Father Christmas for one or two. Mine were: to finish in the top four, and win a trophy.

"So let's have a fantastic 2020, and a happy new year. Thank you."
