Spurs fans will love Jose Mourinho's Arsenal jibe and his comments on winning the Premier League

Jose Mourinho is a winner.

That is a fact that Tottenham were eager to make clear in their appointment of the Portuguese head coach on a three-and-a-half year contract on Wednesday morning.

Mauricio Pochettino was a successful manager at Spurs, without winning silverware, playing an exciting brand of football and turning Tottenham into Champions League regulars.

Chairman Daniel Levy, and the fans, want trophies, and they believe Mourinho is the man to deliver them and take them to the next level.

In the club statement announcing Mourinho as the new head coach, the second paragraph focused on the fact that Mourinho had won 25 senior trophies as a manager.

And Mourinho poked fun at Arsenal, during his second spell as Chelsea boss, in 2015 and their barren run without a Premier League title.

After receiving taunts from the fans about his Chelsea side being "boring", Mourinho responded: "Boring I think is 10 years without a title.

"That's very boring. You support the club and you're waiting, waiting, waiting for so many years without a Premier League title, so that's very boring."

Tottenham have never won the Premier League and have not won the top-flight since 1961, so Mourinho's comments will be music to fans' ears.

Mourinho is excited by the opportunity at Tottenham.

He said on the official website: "I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters.

"The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me."
