Spurs fans spot Jack Grealish hint that could mean Harry Kane stays amid transfer links

Tottenham have had a busy week, with the north London club set to sign Argentine defender Cristian Romero for around £43million from Serie A side Atalanta.

However, talk of Romero's move to N17 has merely been background noise given Spurs' star striker Harry Kane has failed to turn up to training this week despite the fact he was expected back at Hotspur Way Training Ground on Monday.

Instead, the England captain opted to continue his holiday in the Bahamas, throwing his future at the north London club into doubt, especially considering he has previously made it no secret of his desire to win trophies, something Tottenham have failed to do since 2008.

The 28-year-old has been fiercely linked with a move to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, who would likely have to shell out in excess of £150million for the prolific frontman given he still has three years to run on his current deal.

The Citizens announced a deal to bring Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish to the Etihad on Thursday, handing him the No.10 shirt in the process, the same number that Kane dons for Spurs.

Tottenham fans then flocked to social media, claiming that this means Kane will be staying in the capital. Here's how a select few reacted on Twitter to the news.

@Caspararthur : "City just gave Grealish number 10 surely that means they aren’t getting kane."

@ThfcF11 : "GREALISH GOT #10 SIUUU KANE STAYING."

@Albie_thfc : "GREALISH # 10 SO KANE AINT GOING ANYWHEREEEE."

@barnes_b1 : "Grealish given Kane's favourite number 10 shirt, interesting."

@Tams_THFC : "Grealish with the number 10 at city.. that leaves Kane with.. oh."

@mshare83 : "Man City giving Grealish the number 10 shirt seems to rule out both Messi and Kane."
