LONDON: Son Heung-min scored seven minutes from time to give Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in their Premier League match at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Spurs dominated play with a 70:30 edge in possession but had only four shots on target to show for all that effort. Still, they only needed one to go in, and Spurs’ Korean midfielder put them ahead when Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka mishandled his hard shot from outside the box.

The win lifts Spurs into second place, a point ahead of Manchester City, who are at home to Arsenal on Sunday. Newcastle, who saw their two-game winning streak end, lie 14th with 24 points.

The London side also wrote themselves into the Premier League record books by completing a 29th consecutive match without a draw.
