Spurs complete first signing of the summer as talented teenager officially puts pen to paper

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a contract with a talented young Norwegian goalkeeper on a three-year deal.

Bryne goalkeeper Isak Solberg, who turns 16 next month and is 6ft 2ins, signed a contract with Tottenham on Tuesday according to newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad.

Bryne lies just 30km from Stavanger, the hometown of former Spurs goalkeeper Erik Thorstvedt.

Norway youth international Solberg has been invited to two trials with Tottenham's U18s and U16s during the past six months and after he impressed was handed a contract offer which he signed on Tuesday but will not start until his 16th birthday next month.

According to the report, it is a three-year contract which will see him be part of the academy set-up for the first two years and then in the final year turn professional and get a wage increase.

The report also states that Jim Solbakken, Ole Gunnar Solskjær's friend, business partner and agent, assisted Solberg's familiy in the negotiations with Tottenham.

Bryne general manager Asle Tjøtta had previously stated that the club was not entitled to a transfer fee for the player as he had no official contract with the team and is the son of the club's former goalkeeper coach, Thomas Solberg.

However, Tjøtta has now admitted that Bryne would be left with some compensation for teenager, adding: "Tottenham have been very good."

Spurs will be hoping the teenage keeper continues to catch the eye of academy head John McDermott and eventually first team goalkeeper coach Toni Jiminez over the coming years.
