Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham have struggled to gain any consistency at all this season.
Spurs will return to action after the international break in ninth place in the Premier League. They will host rock bottom Watford at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium needing three points to kickstart their campaign after a disastrous week prior to the break.
There has been plenty of talk around Spurs of an unsettled squad following the summer transfer window.
Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld were both tipped to leave, but stayed, while the likes of Danny Rose, Serge Aurier and Victor Wanyama were also told they could leave, but similarly all remained.
Pochettino has been forced to call upon all of these players at various points already this season and it is perhaps not surprising that the squad is less than harmonious on the pitch.
The Spurs boss has previously spoken about needing ti refresh the squad, with every group having a cycle that it will come to the end of, with Spurs potentially at the end of their cycle, with many at the club there from the time Pochettino walked through the front door six years ago.
Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon all joined the club in the summer, after two transfer windows without any signings.
And chairman Daniel Levy has been quizzed about the need for a squad refresh during a scheduled meeting with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust .
The minutes from the meeting have been released by THST .
It says: "Daniel Levy said it’s not always possible to sell players. In 90% of instances either a buyer could not be found for a player or the player did not wish to join the club that had expressed an interest in buying them so THFC was not able to make as many changes as desired this summer.
"Daniel Levy felt the next step in the project was already underway with the signings this summer and the sale of some fringe players, that the much talked about refresh had already begun."
