Spurs beat Kings, 113-98

SAN ANTONIO _ Bryn Forbes came off the bench and scored 23 points to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 113-98 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.

The Kings led 50-49 at halftime, but the Spurs pulled away by outscoring the Kings 30-19 in the third quarter.

Rookie De'Aaron Fox led the Kings (15-34) with a career-high 26 points, including going 6-for-6 on 3-pointers.

Vince Carter scored 21 points off the bench and George Hill had 19 points and four assists.

Manu Ginobili and LaMarcus Aldridge each scored 15 points for San Antonio (33-19).

The Kings were shorthanded due to injuries, then lost head coach Dave Joerger early in the first quarter when he experienced lightheadedness and had to be taken to the locker room.

Lead assistant Elston Turner took over as coach.

Here are three takeaways from the game:

Stretching the defense

Fox's six 3-pointers were a career-high. He'd made two or more in a game just twice in his 42 career games.

The plan defensively against Fox is usually to force him to make jump shots instead of using his speed to get to the basket.

Fox entered the game shooting 30.4 percent from 3-point range. Sunday's showing won't force teams to change how they defend him, but it's a positive sign.

No rest for the old guys

With the Kings hit with so many injuries (five players missed the game), the plan to rest at least two veterans was scrapped. Of the five players who are in the rotation to sit out, Temple was the only one not to play.

Carter and Hill provided all the bench scoring for the Kings.

More progress from Jackson

Justin Jackson's 14 points were his most since the rookie from North Carolina had 19 in a home win over Philadelphia on Nov. 9.

That was the last time Jackson scored in double figures.
