Springing into summer

People in short-sleeved shirts view cherry blossoms at Sumida Park along the Sumidagawa river in Tokyo on Thursday, when temperatures were as high as in early summer. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a high pressure system covered most of the nation and warm air streamed across the archipelago from the south. In Tokyo, the temperature rose from the morning to reach 24.2 C by 1 p.m.
