Springholm Primary School is stitching together the generations through a creative needlework project.
Children were asked to design and sew individual images of themselves as part of their Scotland topic.
The tiny patchwork pieces were then stitched on to a blanket to make a collage showing off the finished artwork.
Principal teacher Clare Dooley said the imaginative project would not have been possible without the community’s help.
Local grannies Christine Paterson, Lynn Gillies, Fiona Irving and Sandra MacTaggart all volunteered their skills with needle, thread and thimble.
And their expert assistance proved invaluable in helping the children complete the work.
Ms Dooley said: “We put out an appeal to grannies and the four of them are running the show for me.
“The kids have really enjoyed it because the project has been good for their creativity and their fine motor skills.
“It’s been a great for the community as well because it has very much been a cross-generational activity.
“An additional benefit is that it’s bringing back skills that perhaps have been forgotten about.”
She added: “Ours is a Scotland-themed technology project with each child designing their own patches.
“It is to show the children can design, cut, stick and sew.
“That’s to ensure we are teaching at the same standard across the region under the curriculum for excellence.”
