Springholm Primary pupils learn about climate change with farm visit

Springholm Primary pupils recently visited Crocketford House Farm and the anaerobic digester plant as part of their topic on climate change and sustainability.

The visit was organised by RHET and the youngsters got to learn all about how the team at Crocketford House look after and rear their beef cattle.

They had the chance to have a go at feeding some of the calves themselves, saw some of the amazing technology now being used on the farm and learnt about how farmers are working for a sustainable future.

To top it off, they got to name a calf and chose to name her Ivy as the farmer that looks after the calves is called Holly.

At the anaerobic digester plant, the youngsters got to see how farm waste is converted into gas which then goes into the local gas network.
