Springholm Primary pupils become TV stars thanks to BBC Scotland LAB and Historic Environment Scotland

Youngsters at Springholm Primary have become TV stars.

The pupils were chosen to create a film about Stirling Castle with Chris O’Rourke from BBC Scotland LAB and Historic Environment Scotland.

They were chosen after it emerged how much they loved history and the fact the coronavirus had forced them to miss their class trip to Stirling Castle.

The interdisciplinary project stretched across lots of areas of the curriculum including art and design, drama, technology, literacy as well as history and the children loved learning through a context with the final outcome being to produce a film.

The process involved making costumes out of junk and other recycled items, researching who lived in the castle, drawing pictures, making audio recordings and practicing filming.

Scotland LAB provides free digital media workshops – currently remotely – for Scottish school pupils as part of BBC Scotland Learning’s outreach commitment.

The film can be viewed online at www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08zs6wt
