Children at Springholm Nursery have had a very exciting few weeks after completing their virtual nature school project.
The final work led to investigating animals and insects that lay eggs.
Donna and David, from Culshan, asked if they would like to look after some of their eggs with the hope that some chicks would be hatched at nursery.
They brought an incubator and eggs, which were turned twice a day, and the children had to make sure that the incubator was kept safe.
On Friday night, the chicks began to peck through the shells which the youngsters found out is called pipping. The chicks are now in a brooding box with a cosy light to keep them warm and some food and water.
There are six chicks to look after until they return to Culshan.
Thank you to Donna and David for the fantastic opportunity to be part of such a fabulous learning experience.
