Springholm Memorial Hall and Springholm Nursery hold egg-cellent Easter Event

Springholm Memorial Hall and Springholm Nursery welcomed families and friends to their egg-cellent Easter event on Sunday.

There was lots of fun for everyone including an amazing Easter egg trail, kids’ games, art activities, tombola, raffles and delicious homemade refreshments.

Face painting by Amy McCornick was very popular and some very colourful characters were walking around the village.

Competition winners

Easter bonnet parade: Charlie Smith and Rachael Somerville. Large bunny: Eva Huechan. Small bunny and guess the sweeties in the jar: Cora Fieldhouse. Best selfie: Kristin Jardine and family, including Violet the dog.

Cameron Crowther won the children’s raffle and Mark Young the adult raffle.

A big “thank you” goes Tesco’s Kate in the Community, Ruth Maxwell of Castle Douglas, Irvings Bakery, Morrisons, Express Bakery and Julie at Springholm Shop for their generous donations and support.

Funds raised will go towards a lottery and entertainment licence and the setting up of a senior citizens’ social hub at Springholm Memorial Hall.

It will also allow the purchase of new outdoor safety equipment and safety helmets and knee and elbow protectors for the children out on their bikes in their outdoor space at Kirkpatrick Durham.

All remaining unused donations have been dropped off with Castle Douglas Food Bank to further benefit the community.
