Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in West Belfast.
The Springfield Road has been closed following the discovery of a suspicious object.
A PSNI spoksperson said: "Police are currently at the scene of a security alert following the discovery of a suspicious object in the Springfield Road area of Belfast.
"The Springfield Road is closed between Workman Avenue and Pollard Street.
"Motorists should seek alternative routes.
"There are no further details at this stage."
Road works have been ongoing on Ballygomartin Road since the start of the month with road closures in place, however DUP MLA William Humphrey has confirmed the road will remain open today.
He posted on social media: "Given the current security situation on the Springfield Road, I have contacted Roads Service. Roads Service have confirmed Ballygomartin Road will NOT close today."
