Springfield Properties handed £18 million deal to build Clyde Gateway houses

Springfield Properties has won an £18.2 million contract to build homes and commercial units at Dalmarnock as part of the Clyde Gateway project, Scotland’s largest urban regeneration scheme.

The Elgin-based housebuilder will construct 114 dwellings and premises for two businesses for West of Scotland Housing Association, with work getting underway this month. The deal will be funded by Glasgow City Council and the housing association’s lenders.

Planning permission has been granted for a further 123 homes on the site. Springfield said it was in negotiations with another provider about phase two of the work.

Chief executive Innes Smith said: “This is another great contract for Springfield that strengthens our revenue visibility over the next two years. We are also proud to be contributing to the Clyde Gateway regeneration, which is an important programme to stimulate growth in this area in the West of Scotland as well as provide much needed additional housing in Glasgow.”

The Clyde Gateway scheme is a partnership between Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council and Scottish Enterprise, and is backed by the Scottish Government. It aims to build 10,000 homes and create 21,000 jobs by 2028.
