Springer's plans to launch a populist tabloid newspaper in France have moved a step closer with the hiring of a veteran journalist, according to the Financial Times. Earlier this month, the German-based owner of Bild, the world's sixth-largest newspaper by circulation, admitted that it was contemplating French newspaper launch, having enjoyed success in Poland with the creation in 2003 of a tabloid entitled Fakt, which is now the country's market leader.
