Springburn Road crash: Man and woman rushed to hospital as road closed following smash

A man and woman have been rushed to hospital following a one-vehicle road crash on Springburn Road.

Police were called to the scene in the north of Glasgow at around 5.45am and confirmed just the one vehicle was involved.

The road was subsequently shut for around two hours, between Huntershill Street and Hawthorn Street.

The condition of the man and woman is unknown at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "We received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Springburn Road, Glasgow, around 5.45am on Wednesday, 9 June.

"The male and female occupants of the vehicle have been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary."

Glasgow City Council advised: "Due to an earlier road traffic collision the A803 Springburn Road is closed between Huntershill Street and Hawthorn Street", before updating at 7.44am: "The A803 Springburn Road is now open, however lane closures remain until vehicle recovery has taken place. Expect delays."
