Armed police rush to Springburn KFC in Glasgow

Armed police rushed to the Springburn branch of KFC in Glasgow tonight.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance there around 6.45pm.

The restaurant has been closed to customers and cordoned off by police. Officers remain on the scene.

A 15-year-old boy who was injured in the disturbance has been taken to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a disturbance on Springburn Road, Glasgow, around 6.45pm on Friday 18 October 2019.

"Armed response officers were the closest resource to the incident so they were first on the scene followed by conventional officers.

"A 15-year-old boy has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries. Inquiries are ongoing."

A spokesman for KFC said: "We are assisting the police with their ongoing inquiries."
