Springboig incident: Man found dead as police lockdown streets

A man has been found dead in unexplained circumstances in the Springboig area of the city.

Police cordoned off a block of flats and the park in Budhill Avenue at 5.40pm on Wednesday. Both areas remain closed at present.

CID officers and ambulance crews are also in attendance.

Buses and transport have been diverted from the Hallhill Road area.

Police have said they are treating the man's death as unexplained and have launched an investigation into the findings.

First Bus Glasgow said: "Due to a police incident at Budhill Avenue service 46 is diverting to Shettleston from Esbank Street/Hollowglen Road/Greenfield Avenue/Hermiston Road and onto normal route We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 5.40pm on Wednesday 9 June, 2021, police received a report a man had died in Budhill Avenue, Glasgow.

"Emergency services are in attendance.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing."
