Spring training: Chicago White Sox 2, Dodgers 1

April 01--REPORTING FROM PHOENIX -- Joe Wieland did enough to still be considered a candidate to replace the sidelined Hyun-Jin Ryu in the rotation, as he limited the White Sox to two runs and nine hits in five innings. Wieland didn't walk any batters. Bullpen candidates David Aardsma, Juan Nicasio, Yimi Garcia and Sergio Santos each pitched a scoreless inning. Garcia struck out the side.

AT THE PLATE: Chris Heisey, who entered the game as a second-inning replacement for Andre Ethier, accounted for the Dodgers' only run. The slumping outfielder, who began the game with a .095 average, hit a home run in the fifth inning. Yasmani Grandal had a double. Jimmy Rollins, Yasiel Puig, Alex Guerrero and Justin Turner each collected a hit. Puig stole his first base of the spring.

EXTRA BASES: Clayton Kershaw will make his final start of the exhibition season Wednesday when the Dodgers face the Kansas City Royals in their final spring-training game in Arizona. Zack Greinke is scheduled to pitch in a minor league game earlier in the day. ... The Dodgers said they drew a total of 147,066 fans to their 15 exhibition home games in Arizona, more than they have ever draw to Camelback Ranch. They averaged 9,804 fans per home game, which topped their previous best of 9,534, set last year.

UP NEXT: Kansas City Royals at noon at Surprise Stadium. On the air: TV: SportsNetLA.
