A 40-year-old man was critically injured Sunday in Spring Grove after another man ran him over with a pickup truck during an argument in the northern suburb.

About 1:40 p.m., officials were dispatched to the 38400 block of North 4th Avenue in unincorporated Spring Grove for a report of a person run over by a vehicle, the Lake County sheriff’s office said.

A preliminary investigation found the man was arguing with two men, ages 39 and 22, over a lawn mower, the sheriff’s office said. They were arguing in the 22-year-old man’s driveway.

During the altercation, the 22-year-old driver of a 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck pulled away and hit the 40-year-old with the rear door that was ajar, the sheriff’s office said. He was knocked to the ground, and the driver allegedly ran over him, according to the sheriff’s office.

The 40-year-old was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious injuries but is expected to survive, the sheriff’s office said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
