Spring Awakening festival dates, ticket information announced

Feb. 04--The Spring Awakening electronic dance music festival will be held June 10-12 in Jackson Park, a move from the festival's typical home in Soldier Field, organizers announced Thursday.

"Over the past year we've explored potential venues that have bigger footprints, and with 500+ acres of lakefront greenery, Jackson Park turned out to be a prime location," festival founder Jeff Callahan said in a statement.

The festival is usually held at Soldier Field, but the stadium is one of a few venues hosting Copa America Centenario, an international soccer tournament, in June. A Chicago Park District spokeswoman said Wednesday festival organizers have been conditionally approved for a permit to allow the festival to be held at Jackson Park, 6401 S. Stony Island Ave.

There will be six stages this year, with two main stages featuring both live electronic acts and DJs, organizers said. Fest-goers can expect interactive art installations, firework displays and carnival rides, including a ferris wheel.

Three-day general admission wristbands, which cost $169 plus fees during pre-sale, are available at springawakeningfestival.com. The cost of the wristbands is expected to rise to $179 in the general sale and $199 for the final sale.

Three-day VIP wristbands, which allow access to private bars and special viewing areas, start at $299 plus fees.
