Spring Awakening fashion statements not to miss

Though the musical festival may have gotten off to a soggy start, Spring Awakening seems to have been a huge success for festival goers.

The three-day festival wraps up today, but before it ends, there’s one music festival fashion trend that was all over Twitter: sparkly stick-on rhinestone designs. Often paired with glitter and bold, colorful eye shadows, these designs felt right at home in the musical festival atmosphere.

Spring Awakening, the annual electronic dance music (EDM) music festival, held its first event outside Chicago this year in northwest suburban Hoffman Estates at Poplar Creek. Sitting on 27 acres of land — three times as much space as the former Chicago site at Addams/Medill Park — the festival brought Rezz, Space Jesus and many more knock-out acts to the stage while festival goers danced, head banged and cheered for their favorite performers.

As with any music festival, attendees go all-out with their outfits, finding creative ways to express themselves. This year, festival goers used stick-on rhinestones to create designs on their foreheads and cheeks. Let’s hope none of them ended up with funky-shaped sunburns.
