
About 850 Kawazu-zakura cherry trees at the peak of their beauty line both sides of the Kawazu River in Kawazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, in this aerial photo taken Tuesday morning from a Yomiuri Shimbun helicopter. Known for blooming early, the trees blossomed about two weeks later than usual this year due to sustained cold temperatures. Visitors will likely be able to enjoy the blossoms until early March, according to the local tourism association.
