Spring 2024 Haute Couture Street Style Is the Antithesis of and Powerful Antidote to Quiet Luxury

Fresh off the fashionable heels of the Fall 2024 Menswear shows, now it's haute couture's turn. There's something so special about this "week." Mostly it's due to the fact that these shows are like walking works of art. There's a certain sense of grandeur that comes along with that. It takes all the presentations up several octaves. Naturally, the street style follows suit. It's always delightfully over-the-top and this season definitely keeps that tradition going. The Spring 2024 Haute Couture street style is just as superb as we imagined.

One of the highlights is seeing everyone wearing Schiaparelli's surrealist creations in the real world. Sometimes with all the theatrics presented on the runway, from funky faces to bold golden accents. It's everything you wish you could get away with wearing IRL, but know you realistically can't. Even the celebrities got in on the fun. Jennifer Lopez actually tried to go somewhat incognito with a face mask partially obscuring her visage. Zendaya's uneven locks and baby bangs made her almost unrecognizable. Rihanna may have been attending Christian Dior, but she also went all out rocking lightened locks and a stunning skirt suit.

Even the hats are epic. That isn't just exclusively the domain of Schiaparelli's fan base, however. Fierce chapeaus appear to be a haute couture prerequisite. There are pillbox-style toppers, furry hoods and more turban takes. They offer a bit of extra pizzazz and help keep showgoers warm. Of course, being warm is not something everyone worries about. Fashion trumps function in many cases. Hence all the see-through skirts and short shorts (once again the no-pants trend is showing some legs), shoulder-baring shirts, tank tops along with strappy and strapless dresses.

For those opting to dress for the weather and not just the occasion, statement layers are key. Like slipping a bright orange sweater under a green plaid skirt set. Or wearing a checked blazer under a beige teddy coat and a light trench coat. Then there's the cold-weather spin on the classic tuxedo reimagined as an embroidered blazer and skirt pairing complete with bow tie.

The footwear is pretty fancy, too. There's an even split of pumps and boots. The latter ranging from the ankle variety to thigh-high. Gold cap toes are a common sight. Not that we're complaining, of course. Accessories can also make or break a look. Consider it part of the Schiaparelli effect. From statement earrings to choker necklaces, bling was big. Literally. Bags definitely leaned more mini. They made up for their size with plenty of personality. Save for those ubiquitous Christian Dior saddle bags naturally seen being toted to the French fashion house's latest haute couture presentation.

Ready to take in all the haute street style looks? Before you continue, however, make sure to slip into something comfortable, grab yourself some coffee, tea or even hot chocolate and put your phone on mute. Because you'll want to avoid distractions for the next hour or so while you take in all the phenomenal Spring 2024 Haute Couture street style ensembles.
